Greece September 2022

Greetings and Salutations!!! Greece for my 33rd birthday was life changing. From the start to the end, I would not have changed a thing. One of the primary lessons I took away was, “be true to myself.” I’d wanted to visit Greece for years; however, I always found a reason to delay the trip. It’s too expensive…Oh, no one would come…that’s bougie!!! I denied myself until this year. Prior to now I’d always placed external expectations over personal desires. Self was secondary; tucked away in pain, agony, and contentment. These past few years challenged what I knew as reality. Now only baring reminisce of me, the shell I once wore remains no more. Embracing every fabric of my wonderful black woman life was and is key. As I continue to embark upon this journey, I pay respect to those who came before me and placed me in this position of options. To My Elders, thank you for never seeing Nette-Nette as too much. May you be honored then and now. For I have merely blossomed into the black woman you raised me to be, free.
Greece was filled with laughter, tears, luxury, and pure bliss. I have finally decided to share several transformative moments with you. In each of the below moments, I found myself exhaling. I was finally able to breath. Before getting into the thick of it, thank you for reading the first official post of Sugar Water Rowe. Buckle up and come along for the ride with muah!
“Happy is the man, I thought, who, before dying, has the good fortune to sail the Aegean sea.”
― Nikos Kazantzakis, Zorba the Greek
