What is Sugar Water Rowe.

Let’s get into it…. As a child my cousins and I would walk to visit one of my grand mother’s neighbor. My cousins and I traveled deep and on a good day it could be 6-11 of us. (Shoutout to my cousins, there’s a whole heap of us!) In order to get to her house, we’d have to walk down a short dirt road. Once we entered her property, we were greeted by the most beautiful weeping willow tree before she would invite us in with her warm smile. I don’t know which one of us would make the request, but she’d call us all around and make us a pitcher of sugar water to quench our thirst. By the time we made it to her house, we’d been outside playing jump rope, freeze tag, or whatever the games of the day were. Like clock work she welcomed us into her home and gave us to most with just a little.

Sugar Water Rowe is my attempt to provide her, my late grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and my elder’s the manifestation of their sacrifices, labor, love, and prayers. I want to share my [our] travels and experiences with the world, because I wish they could be here to witness their grandchild fulfill my dream of traveling the world. Here you will see travels through the eyes of me; the child of country folks who dared to pray, dream, and believe.

Big Mama, Grandma Pearl, Grandma Jay, Grandma Adeline, and Grandad LD…with love, Sugar Water Rowe is dedicated to you.
