Transportation to Athens, Greece > Thira, Greece (Santorini) > Mykonos, Greece > Athens, Greece

Within the subtitle I listed our travel route for the trip duration. We – myself and the other ladies – all traveled from our respected locations and caught the second leg of our trip from Newark Liberty International Airport. Now…I haven’t really flown out of Newark since moving from NYC in 2021. The modernization of the airport is absolutely stunning and I am so ready to see the final renovation completed. In September, renovations were completed from the arrival counter to TSA on Terminal B. Once we walked half a mile to the gate, we were greeted by Newark as we know it. Stay tuned, because there are some big things in store for the Newark and I’m ready.

Later, I will provide a map out of our total flight travels; however, now I will give an overview of our departure flight and experience with the airline. On September 1, 2022, we departed from Newark on Emirate EK 210 at 23:55 EST and arrived in Athens, Greece at 16:05 EET the next day via a Boeing 777. Once airborne, the lights we dimmed and the flight was not shy of what one expects from Emirates. Now, I didn’t enjoy my dinner that evening and it actually upset my stomach, which was a first. Another member of my group also confirmed they battled the same turmoil I experienced after I spoke with them. My favorite thing about the flight was the aircraft, Boeing 777.

Upon arrival into Athens, Greece we went through customs and afterwards located our Grecian Travel Agency – Gate1 – to collect the tickets for the intercontinental flight. Our departure flight from Athens to Santorini was at 20:20 EET and arrived in Santorini at 21:15 EET. Before leaving Athens, we had to board a bus to take us to the aircraft. I was fascinated only because I like the bus to aircraft transportation. While I see why some may find it annoying or even overwhelming, it’s the excitement from an adventure that fuels me.

When the day fell upon us to depart from Santorini to Mykonos it was bitter sweet. Santorini set the tone for a lush Grecian tour. From the catamaran, wine tasting during sunset, private buses, private pools, and all the way to fresh caught sea bass. With all of these experiences, we were ready to set sail to our next island aboard the SeaJets, which was a once in a lifetime kind of experience. This vessel is a regular alternative mode of transportation for getting between islands. Only downside, I did not grow my water legs in time for this voyage. Thankfully, New York City’s peak rush hour subway commute on the 2, 4, L, and G trains prepared me for the mayhem. (I could be persuaded to ride the SeaJets again for the right price…) There was a full bar and eatery aboard. We set all the way in the front and and boarded the Seajet in the rear. It’s worth to noting that seats were assigned at purchase. Prior to walking to our seats, we stored our luggage below deck in the assigned area of our final destination. I brought a smaller luggage and my purse to the seat with me. Rookie mistake! I will defiantly carry a lighter amount of luggage only because of the vast amount of stairs and walking required. The water vessel is massive!!! And despite the rocking, I would highly recommend one to set sail on the vessel for the experience. Base the duration of the travel on your comfortability. Our total travel time allowed enough time for us to rest and regroup from Santorini. Also take into account the amount of luggage you are carrying; it will have to be stored and/or carried.

In closing, we arrived to Mykonos safely and when it was time, we boarded another intercontinental flight from Mykonos to Athens. Now of course from Athens we flew back to Newark Liberty International Airport on Emirates. Overall, the transportation for Greece was immaculate. Being awaken by the SeaJets rocking side to side was the worst part of our modes of transportation. To our benefit, we are in God’s hands and all is well. Now, I did think, maybe this is the moment, but it being in Greece made it well with my soul. In total, we traveled 22 hours and 55 minutes. To most that may be tooooo much, I submit the idea that the Grecian experience was priceless and worth every moment spent on this journey.
